I've really been struggling with writing, drawing, and just creative stuff lately because of IRL reasons. Wrote this to try and spark some of those creative juices, to write something different, and to also write more Date and Gotou because I love them and really wanna make more things with them and give them some love.
Summary: Date knows that there's a lot on Gotou's mind, and it doesn't help that Date twisted and sprained his ankle.
Also On: Ao3, Dreamwidth, Dreamwidth 2
The frigidness of the water made Date wince, “Aah. That really smarts.” Date doing his best to show restraint, and not instantly grab at his ankle. Lest he’d make Gotou have to worry about his condition even more than he already was.
It was just another day of training. Somewhere along the lines Date fell over and twisted his ankle. He might have been Kamen Rider Birth, but he was still only human.
Despite Gotou still putting on his serious demeanor, Date could tell that he was worried sick about him. He hated to see him this on edge. It felt like the next incident to pop up would make him implode.
The fact the yummies as of late having gotten stronger, and Ankh had been giving them an especially hard time over collecting cell medals— It only further exacerbated things.
Looking over to Gotou, seeing him continue to unpack medical supplies, and hurriedly texting Satonaka about the situation. And you couldn’t blame him for being in a rush there, it was getting to be about time for her to clock out for the day.
Date smiled, warmth swelling up inside his chest. The fact Gotou was this concerned over his well being… It was incredibly touching.
Moving his ankle out of the water, Gotou began to wrap a bandage around it. Fingers slightly trembling as the bandage slipped through his fingers, and making their way around. Covering up the sprain.
“Gotou-chan, I’ll be better before you know it.” He grinned and gave Gotou a thumbs up.
Gotou looked up back at him, a small smile forming. “Well don’t go off and do anything reckless Date-san. This needs to heal.”
Seeing that smile was exactly what Date wanted to see. “I gotcha, I gotcha! I’m a doctor after all.” Heartily patting Gotou on the shoulder.
As Gotou felt the warmth of Date’s hand, his cheeks flushed a little. And his body began to relax.
Normally it was Date tending to Gotou’s wounds, not the other way around. And with everything else that has been going on, there had been so much on his plate. The yummies, training to become Birth, Ankh being… Ankh.
But there was something that felt reassuring in the look in Date’s eyes. Inside them, he could see a promise to watch out for himself, and make sure not to further his injury. A comforting warmth began to take hold inside of him.
Just maybe, Gotou could finally begin to worry about things a little bit less.
“Hey Gotou-chan, could ya get my hotpot out of the back? I’m itching for some grub.”
“You’re not in any condition to be handling that right now…”
Emphasis on maybe.
