It was another outing meant to show Lachesis the various aspects of human life. At first she didn’t quite understand why Kyoka insisted she’d either go out on her own or tag along with her to various places. It all felt pointless to her for a while.
But as time continued to pass, she gained an understanding. And actually began to look forward to these days where she’d get to do something new. It was something she didn’t get to experience much, if at all, back when she was with her sisters. The only new experiences would come from either assisting Geryon, or furthering his plans on their own during the decade he was healing from his confrontation with Fuga.
They were moments focused on someone else. All of them centered around her “father” who didn’t truly care about her, or her sisters. To him they were always meant to be dolls to follow his every whim. Nothing more. That was what they existed for after all, and was the driving force behind their very creation in the first place.
So to have moments where she could truly focus on her burgeoning life and sense of self, it made her feel so free. It was very exciting in a way she couldn’t really put into words yet.
Kyoka told her about a natural occurrence that was to take place later that evening. Something called an aurora borealis. She had heard of the concept before when she’d eavesdrop alchemists at the academy to gather intel for plans with Clotho and Atropos.
The way Kyoka’s eyes lit up as she talked about how such colorful lights would flow through and envelop the sky… It was rather contagious. But Lachesis found that Kyoka’s enthusiasm was something easy to get wrapped in and join along with. It was one of the multiple aspects of Kyoka that she really loved.
Which only made her look forward to tonight’s outing even more.
Stars were laid across the night sky, shining bright as a full moon accompanied them. They were at a park, laid against a railing as they waited for the lights.
“It’s real pretty tonight. Looks like it could be a postcard, don’t ya think?” Kyoka looked over to Lachesis with a smile.
She nodded. “I can definitely see it.”
Her mind went back to various shopping trips across the city. The sight of little stands with various postcards and photo prints of scenic views of nature that one could purchase. The vastness of a forest, greenery as far as the eyes could see. Quaint moments by a river, and the fauna that would take a break for water by it. Winter scenes with everything enveloped with snow, it decorating the trees as it sprinkled from the sky.
Kyoka once told Lachesis the importance of experiencing all sorts of nature. That the natural world was vital to the human experience— and how it was worth protecting alongside appreciating.
As time passed on it was a concept that she too began to believe in.
“Lache-chan! Look!”
Gorgeous waves of blue and green light began to make themselves known. Shining through the skyline, illuminating the world below it.
It was truly something wonderful to behold. Lachesis had seen it before in photos that Kyoka had shown her earlier. Hyping up their evening plans. But it was something else entirely to see them for herself in person.
And it was special. What made it even more so was spending her time with Kyoka during all this. To experience moments like this, it was the part of becoming human Lachesis enjoyed the most of all.
Lachesis inched her hand towards Kyoka’s on the railing, slowly putting her hand on hers with a smile. “It’s truly beautiful Kyoka-san.”
Kyoka glanced back at her, a look of love in her eyes. “It is.” Placing a quick kiss onto her cheek. Happy to show more of Lachesis this wonderful world they called home, together.
