Shichiro gasped in pain, writhing as Michiko poured the antiseptic onto his wound. On the other side Nishiwaki prepared the bandages. That assassin was quite skilled with a blade—leaving a nasty cut right into his arm.
Going after this particular artifact was going to be extremely dangerous no matter what. Thankfully, he wasn’t alone. And asking Michiko to come along was a wise move. Quick on her feet, great at making split-second decisions, and overall an extremely helpful ally. She was definitely coming along with them next time.
With his two partners by his side he could survive this. If he was alone… Shichiro didn’t even want to think about that possibility. Luckily, he didn’t have to. Before it was just him and Nishiwaki. Then Michiko captivated his heart. In secret—the same happened to Nishiwaki as well.
It was still the early days of their relationship together. And as more days passed on by he was more and more grateful to have both of them in his life. Silently, Shichiro was looking forward to their next mission. Even though they still had to finish this current one and get out alive. Shiori was back home waiting for them, after all. Completely unaware of the life the three of them lead outside of raising her.
His train of thought was interrupted as Michiko wiped the wound clean. Biting his lip hard to hold back any more noises.
“It’ll continue to sting for a bit. But I know you can push through.” Michiko whispered. Keeping her voice low to not blow their cover. “Nishiwaki.”
“Right.” Moving over to his side, he carefully began to wrap the bandage around Shichiro’s wound. Nishiwaki’s hands have killed countless foes. Caused wounds and bloodshed of their own. However in this moment, those very same hands that have caused death were as gentle as could be.
“Ah—” Shichiro gasped again as the knot was tightened. Failing to hold that one back. “…I don’t know where I’d be without either of you… Thank you.”
Both of them smiled. If they all weren’t on a life-or-death mission right now, they’d have half a mind to kiss him. Softly holding his hands for a moment would have to do.
Shichiro felt a sense of comfort wash over him as their fingers wrapped around his hands. He had enough strength to intertwine his own with them in return. This wound hurt like absolute hell. But with Michiko and Nishiwaki by his side, they could accomplish anything.
