“So that’s your plan huh?”
Kyoka asked as she poured herself a drink. She could see the look of determination in Minato’s eyes. He’d changed since those kids came into his life, especially that easy-breezy boy. The fact he was the spitting image of Daiki at times surely impacted him as well.
In the past he wouldn’t have brought up something like this to her. While they had personal conversations in the past, it wasn’t anything deeper than roughly at the surface.
They both shared deep scars from what happened ten years ago. All of their generation of alchemists were taken away in the blink of an eye. Talking in-depth about those wounds that were deep inside of his soul was something Minato was not ready to do back then.
But now they had reflected on their time healing together, bonding over the tragedy they’d both endured.
And today — he was ready to create a change that the Minato she knew just a few months ago wouldn’t do.
“It’s what must be done. The association… They don’t understand, nor do they even care.”
Taking a sip of her brandy, “Tell me about it. Why do you think I’ve acted independently all this time?”
In retrospect, Kyoka’s actions all made sense after all the months of tension between him and the upper brass. He cared about these kids. Wanted to assure their safety, and to help lead the next generation down the path that they will carve on their own.
With how things currently stood, the association needed to change. Otherwise this would never happen.
“Are you going to bring this up to Spanner?” She asked.
“Yes. He’s just as fed up as I am.”
Maybe even more… Especially given how he was ordered around like a dog by them. They were the ones that sent him to help capture the chemies in the first place.
Kyoka walked over to the table. To get a better look of that conviction that was set ablaze in his eyes. She couldn’t help but smile as she took another sip, “I’m sure he’ll be more than willing to help you.” Looking back on all the times he vented about the association to her as she spoke.
Minato was steadfast in his belief. “For the sake of the next generation, something needs to change.”
And he would be the one to help bring about it.
End Notes: Done for toku100challenge. Prompt was change. Inspired by the latest episode! Also really wanted to write some Kyoka & Minato for about a week now. I think about the two of them a lot.
