Ever since that fateful day ten years ago it all had changed. That image of an alchemist who was fascinating, handsome, and a genius of his time had been long gone. The teacher he long admired, and even harbored some secret feelings for— was destroyed within the blink of an eye. Minato had known what Geryon was truly like now.

He was forbidden the luxury to ever have the ability to forget.

This act was all for a mission. To protect his students, to keep them as far away from this man as possible. He couldn’t let more bright futures be taken away. Minato would never forgive himself if it happened.

He knew what Geryon was capable of more than anyone else. All of the horrors and carnage Geryon could conjure up within an instant if he so pleased. He knew the power he contained too, and would use that to his advantage. Always toying with Minato by “idly” playing with that cursed cube of his.

But every flick of the finger and click of the cube was a deliberate attack on Minato’s psyche.

They both knew it brought back memories that Minato wished he could repress for good, or actually wipe out of his mind. All that pain and guilt felt like a thousand knives that lunged into him. Each stab was a reminder of the mistake that started this hellish cycle. Along with Geryon rubbing salt in each of his wounds by knowing exactly what he was doing.

If Minato made the right choice that day, maybe he wouldn’t be in this situation. His students would be safe, and he wouldn’t have to play house with the man who traumatized him. The one who took away his friend, his entire class, and all of the bright futures they had in store.

Even knowing all of this… just why did he keep coming back for more?

When the sisters were away meetings would quickly escalate. As their arms wrapped around each other, lips would meet. Skin would come into contact, and those feelings Minato thought he had lost a decade ago returned in full force. Though only for these encounters.

Or so he hoped, anyways.

And yet even with the intense guilt Minato would feel the next day each and every time, he continued to indulge these impulses. Visiting Geryon in the hours of the night and repeat this cycle all over again, and again, and again—

What was wrong with him?
