Summary: Shinji and Ren bicker during Atori's slow hours.

It was a slow time of day in Atori, it was right after lunch hour so it made sense. To have a moment to breathe after all that hustle and bustle… Shinji found it nice.

Well. He sort of was able to breathe. Kind of.

Ren sat at the counter, watching Shinji wash the dishes. Purposefully being slow so as to not break any more of the dishes than he already had this month. Ren took this as an opportune time to be a little bit of a smart ass.

“You forgot another thing.” Pointing towards a saucer.

Shinji grunted, wiping off the last bit of grime with some elbow grease. Moving his focus back to the bowl he was doing his best to clean.

Glancing at a tea pot, Ren spoke up again. “And you forgot something on that too. Actually a lot of these still need work.”

Shinji made an incomprehensible noise as he firmly put the bowl. Though with enough of a delicate touch to not break it, well as much as Shinji was able to. Lest Auntie Sanako had an aneurysm…

But still! Ren was being annoying! And he had to get the point across. He’s trying not to break anything! If only he could just shut up!

“Ren!” He huffed, “You think I can focus with you constantly breathing down my neck?! Just stop it already…”

Ren opened up one of the nearby magazines. “It’s not my problem that you’re so bad at this.”

Shinji made yet another frustrated, and still unintelligible noise. It almost felt like he was going to stomp on the ground next. Like a needy and frustrated puppy.

Oh that was it! Shinji had enough of this. If only there was a way to shut him up—

Suddenly, a light bulb went off in his head. Strolling right on over, Shinji pulled the paper right out of Ren’s hands.

“What the—”

Before he had any time to react, Shinji gave a quick kiss right on Ren’s lips. It was chaste, yet sweet. And it did what Shinji set out to do. It did shut Ren up.

Well, briefly.

Gripping him by the shirt collar, he pinned Shinji straight to the well. “What the hell was that for?!”

Looking up at Ren, “Well… You wouldn’t shut up!”

Ren couldn’t believe nerve of him. It didn’t matter that it was kind of nice— No, wait— Ugh… Once again he was having these thoughts about Shinji. They kept happening, and at the most inconvenient of times too.

Well. If Shinji wanted him to shut up, might as well make him shut up too. Beat him at his own game.

Ren just pushed him harder against the wall, before giving Shinji a kiss of his own. And it certainly shut him up.

Until the two found their way upstairs into their room that is. That’s when Shinji became a bit vocal again…

It was a very good thing Yui and Auntie went to get groceries.

Wanted to write them again! Even in a reset timeline Ren's still gotta be repressed to a degree. LOL
