Summary: Kyoka tends to Lachesis' burn after she tries to cook.

The ointment applied to the burn on her hand feels cool to the touch, though it’s different from the other cold things she’s felt in a way she can’t describe. It’s a sensation she hasn’t really felt before.
Kyoka carefully wraps the bandage around Lachesis’ hand, making sure to not make any movements that could potentially agitate it. Thankfully the burn isn’t a severe one. But it’s best to get it taken care of right away.
Lachesis can also feel the soft warmth that radiates from Kyoka’s body. A trait that was distinctly very human to her. Even though it’s not just humans that can do this. But she first noticed it from one, so it’s where her association of this phenomenon lies.
As a homunculus she doesn’t radiate heat, or gets cold either. When Kyoka held her hand for the first time she noticed how… neutral, for lack of a better word, the temperature of her body felt. It was as if Lachesis’ body was absent of temperature all together. Kyoka had never seen anything like it before.
To Lachesis, it sounded like the fluctuating body temperature of a human felt more like something that would be bothersome. Homunculi had no need for such things after all.
But there was something quite nice about feeling Kyoka’s warmth all the same.
The version of her a few months ago would never think such a thought. She would have once thought it was preposterous. To find a sensation so inconvenient to be one of comfort.
But Lachesis was different now. She was forging her own path, and transmuting a new sense of self all on her own. She was going to become what she wanted to be. Not live for whatever purpose Geryon had created her for.
And she was going to become human.
“There, that should help it.” Kyoka said. “I’m glad the burn isn’t as bad as it could be. They can get real nasty, you know.”
“Thank you Kyoka-san.” She smiled.
“Don’t feel bad about it either. It’s happened to me before. When doing my kind of work, that risk comes with the territory.” Kyoka began to put away the medicine kit. “Can’t begin to tell you how many times Spanner has scolded me about it.”
While Lachesis didn’t feel bad about what had happened, it was still comforting to know this was just part of the human experience. It felt like she continued to get closer to her goal with each passing day.
“…How about we get takeout instead?”
“Nice thinking Lache-chan!” Kyoka nudged her shoulder with a grin, as well as placed a kiss on her cheek. Which made Lachesis’ smile grow wider. “I’ll go get the menu.”
