Based on that scene from the credits of the future daybreak where Minato and Kyoka held hands, but a rewrite to make it Spanner and Minato holding hands instead. Which is an idea I got from my friend. (Also added bonus gummy sharing, also an idea by said friend.) Originally posted on 2025-03-02.

Summary: Spanner and Minato hold hands at the festival.

The energy of the festival continued to invigorate and excite as the music continued to play. Fireworks decorated the sky in various colors as everyone enjoyed themselves. Eating food, playing various games, as well as talking among themselves.

Spanner kept to himself however as he walked around the various stalls. Glancing up to look at the fireworks here and there. He was finally trying those gummies that he was given after his rescue. And he noticed that he hadn't even seen this type of gummies in the stores around here.

He was still left at a complete loss over the one who saved him earlier. Spanner wasn't quite sure what to make of him. He'd seen stranger things in his life while working for the union. Sent on various missions to solve problems for the council. Typically by combat, though not always. But seeing the driver that made that boy into a Kamen Rider be attached to his stomach was definitely up there.

At least the gummies were pretty good.

Spanner sighed. He made it out of that fight alive, and in the end that was what mattered. It would be a better use of his time to focus on the festival right now. Dwelling on that mystery rider wouldn't get him any answers. Not that he was particularly pressed to have them anyways.

He looked over to Minato, who was next to everyone else and wearing a black yukata. He looked nothing short of stunning in it.

Spanner looked at the pouch of gummies and had an idea.

As Spanner walked over to Minato, Kajiki was seen running around. He was very excited as usual. Though it was brought to eleven by the festival. Kajiki almost sprinted over to Minato and Spanner, curious to see what they were doing. But then Kyoka silently reached out an arm and shook her head, stopping him from intruding on them.

Minato looked over to Spanner with a smile. Before spotting the pouch of gummies in his hands.

He raised an eyebrow. “Gummies? I don't recall them being sold here.”

“…It's a long story.” Spanner took one out of the bag. There were multiple colors inside, and this was a purple one. “Do you want one Senpai?”

He nodded. “Sure.”

To Minato's surprise, though a very pleasant one, Spanner fed the gummy directly to him. He could taste the sweet and juicy grape flavor it contained. While it tasted great, Minato enjoyed Spanner's gesture even more. Which was even sweeter than that gummy.

With that same beautiful smile Spanner always had loved, Minato looked down at Spanner's hand and took his hand into his. As the two held hands Spanner's grip was firm, yet gentle. Which told Minato how much Spanner wanted to stay by his side. It warmed his heart.

Hand in hand, the pair looked up to enjoy the fireworks together. As well as each other's company. Their timeline was saved. While the greater battle at hand was still not over— they could enjoy this wonderful moment in peace. And look back over it with fondness in the many more summers they will spend together in the future.
