It had been a couple hours since Rinne began studying for Minato-sensei’s next test. This one was on alchemy’s history in medieval times. With each turn of the page, she put her all into memorizing this material. As the sun slowly went down outside her window, she started to yawn.

That was when Renge suddenly charged in. “Figured you could use a break, star-scholar!”

Startled by the sudden entrance, Rinne rubbed her eyes. “You could knock first Ichou-senpai.” But she was quietly pleased to have her company.

“Sorry, sorry!” As Renge walked closer to her desk, Rinne could smell something delicious. “You must be hungry. So eat up.” It was a small plate of various baked goods, as well as some candied fruits. “Got 'em from that cafe you like.”

Rinne blinked. When did she last eat something? It must have been a while, probably before studying. Normally she was a lot better about this… She felt her chest start to become warm. “Thank you.”

She remembered it all too well—It was from that same cafe she first struggled to order at. When Atropos took her by surprise, before Dread entered the scene.

Lunch with Renge afterwards was quite awkward. But Rinne did fondly remember how good that meal was. And as time passed, she’d gotten better at ordering there. Much to Renge’s delight.

“You should have something too.” Rinne passed over a croissant with a soft smile.

Renge grinned, planting a quick kiss on Rinne’s cheek. “Thank ya.”
