It was quite fun doing a sprint! I never had done one before till now. Originally posted on 2022-10-15.

“This is asinine.” Groaning, Ankh slouched back into the chair. Glaring daggers right at Eiji. “Do I have to wear this stupid thing?”

He was wearing a red chicken kigurumi, Chiyoko custom made it just for him. Hina had recently been giving her pointers on costume making.

“Only for a little while, Ankh. Chiyoko spent a lot of time making that, you know?” Eiji sighed, with a small smile. Helping set up the decorations for the Halloween party. Reusing the vampire costume he wore at last year’s party. “It would make her happy.”

Ankh slammed his hand on the table, curling it into a fist. “And why should I even care?”

Turning his head back, “Because I’m getting you that premium ice cream you like so much.” Eiji spoke in a sing-song voice. Chuckling as he saw his boyfriend grumble and cross his arms in a huff. “I promise you won’t have to wear it for too long.”

“You better be right.” Summoning his Greeed arm, curling his fingers in anger. “Or someone is going to pay!”

“Ankh put that away—” Eiji was cut off by the sound of the door opening.

It was Date, just by himself. Gotou and Satonaka must be arriving on their own as a later point then. He came dressed for the party as per Chiyoko’s request, but it was just his old doctor’s outfit.

“Hey there Hino! Anko!” The very first thing he saw was Ankh sitting in a distant corner, visibly fuming as he wore the costume.

He could just barely contain his laughter. Snickering uncontrollably, before Ankh glared straight through him. It was just enough to make him stop. Date coughed and regained his composure.

“Hey Anko, what’s with the costume?” He asked, curious. Walking a bit closer to Ankh, getting a good look at the kigurumi. “Didn’t think you were one to get dressed for these parties.”

If a glare could kill someone, this one absolutely would have been able to. “Shut up.”

Stepping back, “Alright, alright. I won’t ask.” Date then set down his bag by the doorway, taking the nearest seat where Eiji was stationed. Figuring it would be a good idea to give Ankh some space.

“So Hino, when’s the party gonna start?”

“You got here early, it’s still another half hour before it starts.” Eiji got off the stool after putting up the last of the garlands. Pointing to a small box, “Would you mind giving me an extra hand with these last decorations?”

Giving a thumbs up and a smile, “No problem.”

Chiyoko gasped with delight, clapping as she walked in with Hina from the front entrance. Hina was unable to suppress her own laughter however, though doing a much better job than Date did.

“Oh Ankh dear, you look wonderful!” Holding his arm, getting a close look at her handiwork. Ankh’s expression could only be described as a mixture of pure rage and disgust. “I’m so glad it fits you! It was my first time making something like this, so I wasn’t entirely sure if I got my measurements right.”

Ankh clicked his tongue, yanking his arm away. Turning his head to the wall as he ground his teeth. This was absolutely embarrassing.

Eiji better get him that premium ice cream after this, or he would raise hell untold when this was all said and done.

Suddenly there was a snap, click, and a flash. Ankh blinked rapidly as he shook up his head. “Oi…!”

Chiyoko had taken his photograph. It took every medal in his body to not just swipe that camera out of her hands, and crush it in his grip. If he did that— well there would definitely be no ice cream.

“I’ll give the photo to you as soon as it’s done developing! You just look so great, Ankhy poo!” Chiyoko then went to check on Eiji and Date.

Well. She certainly looked happy. So Eiji got what he wanted.

Walking up to Ankh, Hina giggled. “I think that costume suits you.”

Ankh could only bring himself to just throw another glare, and turn his head away again. “…Shut up.”

He just wanted this party to end as soon as possible. And to enjoy that ice cream he was promised.

Ankh sat upon the rooftop. Looking at the photograph Chiyoko had taken of him. It was strange, he never really had touched a physical photo like this before.

He knew humans could take them with their phones, the iPhone he had was able to take some really good ones. And in his research, he heard of how these little physical ones were used by humans for well over a century.

Though according to what he had read, the digital sorts were becoming more the norm now. But there was still a want for these sorts of physical photos.

If there was one thing he didn’t like, it was being in front of a camera. But he had to admit, he didn’t look that bad in this.

Though you would never hear him say that out loud.

His train of thought was interrupted by Eiji climbing up, now dressed in his more typical attire. “Thank you Ankh.” Smiling with pure gratitude, his dimples fully out. “Here’s your premium ice cream. Just as promised.”

Scoffing, he swiped the ice cream. Subsequently tearing off the wrapper and taking a big bite straight into it. Savoring that taste that he was able to take in with this body. It was refreshing, sweet, and delicious.

Definitely worth putting up with all that utter nonsense that was that Halloween party, and that damned chicken kigurumi.
