Summary: Renge and Rinne have a conversation in the classroom while they're frozen in place.

This entire situation was ridiculous, Rinne thought to herself in the classroom. It was near silent. Only the sounds of the chemicals that were still bubbling in their containers could be heard. Well, that and Renge’s breathing.

The freeze in place formula was incredibly potent. And Renge wasn’t able to create her own formula to counter it, instead she made herself frozen in the process. So they would need an alchemist that was more advanced with their skills than both of them combined. In this scenario all they could do now was wait for Minato-sensei to show up and help.

Surely, he could get them out of this predicament.

Not only was being frozen in place taking a toll on her body, there was a side of mental anguish too given all the boredom Rinne was experiencing. She wanted this to be over more than anything! It was torture. Right now, she should be out there with Ichinose and the others helping them find that chemy…

Renge then broke the silence with a sigh, “Man… My arms are starting to ache.” She glanced around the room once more, her gaze glancing right at the stack of papers Sabimaru was working with earlier. Then she focused back on Rinne. “How long do ya think we’ve been like this?”

“I haven’t kept track.”

More silence.

After a few minutes, a light bulb suddenly went off in Renge’s head. “So how’s ordering at the cafe going for ya?”

“…Huh? What does that have to do with any of this?” She raised an eyebrow.

“We need to pass the time somehow until sensei gets back.” Renge then had a small grin. The same one that would always pop up whenever she’d get excited about something. “Besides, I’m curious!”

Rinne sighed. Right now wasn’t the time for idle chit-chat. But there wasn’t much else either of them could do, was there? Might as well then. “It’s been going alright… I’ve found my new favorite drink there actually.”

And the way Renge’s features lit up upon hearing that made Rinne feel something deep within her heart.

“That’s fantastic star-scholar!” If her limbs weren’t frozen, she would have thrown her arms up in the air. “How about when this is all done, we go back over there for lunch?”

It was quite the tempting offer to Rinne. Not to mention her efforts had been paying off, she didn’t get as overstimulated as she once did when ordering there. Even though the cashier could still be very intense at times. But the more exposure she’d get, the easier it would become.

“Sure thing.”

“Alright, it's a date then!” Renge’s cheeks turned a light shade of pink after the words left her mouth.

Rinne smiled, blushing oh so slightly as well.
