Summary: After ten long years, Ankh is finally home.

It had been little over a month since Ankh was resurrected. His core medal was able to be brought back together thanks to a breakthrough discovery by the Kougami foundation.

Ankh wasn’t entirely crazy about Kougami. He was an eccentric man… Chaotic. Baked way too many cakes. God. What human felt a need to bake so many of them? And despite ten long years having gone by, he was still not entirely over that 60% core medal cut back when he first fought alongside Eiji.

But he did appreciate how thanks to his work, he was able to be brought back to Eiji. Finally, he was a ghost following Eiji around the corners of the world, unable to speak nor touch him— no more.

You wouldn’t see him thanking Kougami out loud though.

Things felt like how they used to be when he first met Eiji now. Just minus the yummies, fighting, and the hunt for his core medals.

Him and Eiji were stationed back at the attic in Cous Coussier, Chiyoko greeting them with open arms. Her demeanor was cheerful as usual, but even more than ever before now. She missed everyone. Ankh vanished without a trace to her.

Eiji remembered the day when he told her everything that had happened. It was a couple days before he left Japan. He remembered his heart sinking as he recounted all that transpired that year, seeing her chipper nature drain from her.

He remembered, so vividly, how Chiyoko hugged him tight. Tears in her eyes, apologizing for how he, Ankh, Hina, Shingo, and Gotou— had to endure so much.

Now she knew the whole story.

To see everyone back in her restaurant together, she couldn’t be happier.

The attic Ankh and Eiji stayed in was completely how it was left. That mysterious satin red sheet was still there too on the couch Ankh perched on too, somehow. It was if outside of the needed cleaning here and there, she kept the room untouched. Faithful that Ankh and Eiji would return.

Eiji was eternally grateful at every waking second, that this ended up being the case.

Today he sat on his bed, scrolling through the iPhone Shingo got him as a welcome back gift. Ankh was given one too as well. They’ve gotten a lot bigger than he remembered in the past decade, hadn't they?

Continuing to scroll through his new phone, Ankh strolled over to Eiji’s bed.

“Oi Eiji, move over.” Speaking as bluntly and as straightforward as he always had.

With a small smile, he made room for Ankh on the bed as he moved over to the side. Ankh continued to be the wildcard he always was, and instead of sitting next to Eiji he moved behind him. Pressing his chest onto his back, wrapping his legs around his waist, and embracing him from behind as he laid his head on Eiji’s shoulder.

He felt his cheeks heat up. The warmth radiating from Ankh was comforting. His heart was soft. For the first time in a decade, Eiji felt like he was at home once again. Softly, he kissed his lover’s cheek.

Ankh’s face got a little pink, turning his head to the side. Eiji couldn’t help but let out a laugh. Their feelings for each other were known and established by this point, but this aspect to Ankh never really left him.

He left a peck on Eiji’s cheek in return, able to feel Ankh’s smile as his lips pressed on his skin.

Within moments he heard Ankh chuckle, which was always a sign he was up to something. And he was indeed. Softly nibbling Eiji’s ears to see his reaction. Feeling Eiji lean back into his embrace, Ankh let out a pleased hum.

“Just what are you up to now Ankh?”

Smirking, “Who knows?” He spoke teasingly. Pressing his lips on Eiji’s neck, softly kissing and nibbling all around it. Eiji’s face began to heat up again. It had been so long since the two would spend time together like this.

Grabbing Ankh’s hair as he continued to shower Eiji with affection, “I think you do know.”

Placing a kiss on the back of Eiji’s neck, “It’s been ten years Eiji.” Tilting Eiji’s head towards him, kissing him. Eiji’s hand sliding down from Ankh’s hair, now holding his cheek.

It was the most gentle kiss Ankh had ever given him. Usually they were a lot rougher, greedier, but this time it was different. It lingered for a moment before Ankh looked straight into Eiji’s eyes, “I missed my human.”

Eiji pressed his forehead against Ankh’s, smiling sweetly. Taking in this moment between them both. His heart swelled. Noticing Ankh’s breathing as becoming in sync with his own.

After all this time, they were together again. And nothing was going to separate them now.

“I missed you too. Welcome home, Ankh.”

Ankh pulled Eiji deeper into his embrace, kissing his neck gently one more time. “I can’t wait anymore. I want to make up for lost time.” Nibbling on Eiji’s ear again. “And I can sense it, Eiji. I know you also want the same.”

He knew him too well by this point. Eiji returned another kiss Ankh initiated, excited to make up for lost time with the one he loved so dearly.

End Notes: I have other OOO wips in the making and brewing in my head, including a fix-it for the 10th anniversary movie among others! I've got quite a few ideas in store to write! But as stated above I really needed something happy with these two today so I wrote this. (This is the second ship that Toei has given me immense emotional damage over...)
