Finally had the spoons to write for this challenge again! This latest episode really gave me some inspiration too. I love Rinne so much...

Summary: To honor and follow the rules— It was something taught by her father.

Enjoying the delicious tart, Rinne beamed. Tasting the sweetness of the cream and the freshness of the fruit. It would already be delicious on its own, but it felt all the more satisfying to eat today. Thanks to both being able to transform again, and the new direction her life had begun.

The chatter of the others figuring out what to pick from the box filled the air of the restaurant, who were still audibly displeased about Rinne just swiping that tart for herself. But even then, there were still other delicious treats in the box to pick from. So it was fine.

(Sabimaru was going to go for the chocolate cake anyway. So he wasn’t too upset about it. Renge was savoring the earthy flavor of the pumpkin pie.)

To honor and follow the rules— It was something taught by her father. Said time and time again how it was a core pillar of being an alchemist. Words echoed not only by her father, but also her teachers, her peers, her superiors and the association.

It was a mantra that was repeated ad nauseam by the world of alchemy. To follow the rules, to obey chemy law. Keeping the natural order intact at all costs.

But things were starting to change. Ever since Ichinose told her about Geryon altering the minds of the association being the source of her father’s label as a traitor, and Ichinose’s talk about how he’d be following his own set of rules, not the laws per say— even with that false label cast upon him… Her perspective began to change.

Ever since Ichinose came into her life, things changed as a whole. And not just her perspective.

Rinne now had friends that she knew she could count on. No longer would she be alone. No longer would she be the same little girl crying to herself on a bench, longing for connection. Plagued by the piercing feeling of loneliness that struck through her heart without any shred of mercy.

She glanced down at her ring, taking in its vibrant orange color. Shining like the sun under the soft lighting of the restaurant. It was something special, something different. Symbolizing its place that was outside the hierarchy and traditions of the alchemist world.

That must be why Minato and the academy wanted it. After all, he mentioned how special this ring was.

She already knew what she had to do. To chart her own path, and continue to write out her own rules. Ones that worked just for her. Like her father before her.

Rinne looked towards the others, focusing in on Ichinose, cheesecake all over his cheeks. Smiling, she didn’t know how to thank him. For telling her about her father, how he wasn’t a traitor after all. Finally having her feelings affirmed.

Probably the best way to return the favor was to give it her all when raiding the academy. Fighting alongside him. And now, she had the power to do just that.
