Summary: Lachesis wakes up and finds herself in the Academy's infirmary.

Lachesis woke up to the sounds of concerned murmurs, and bandages wrapped around her in the academy’s infirmary. Everything after being shot was all a blur. She didn’t expect to have survived that…

But here she was. Though not in the most ideal of conditions.

Slowly, she took off the ribbon Spanner had wrapped around her hand. Underneath was the wound that was a sign of the humanity she forged for herself.

Crimson. The color of blood. Blood. The very essence of life itself that flowed throughout all humans. Kyoka had told her about it once, after an accident in the kitchen. She was told the moment she ever began to bleed, that was a sign of real progress having been made.

There was a strange sense of relief to see that color stained upon the skin of her hand. To know that she was even closer to being human, if not one already.

The murmurs outside suddenly became quiet, as Kyoka burst through the door and rushed towards her side. “Lache-chan!” Her hands and lips trembled, tears welled up at her eyes.

Lachesis gently took Kyoka’s hand into her own. “I’m back, Kyoka-san.” To affirm that, she gave a gentle squeeze.

“I was worried sick about you.” She spoke shakily, barely able to form words. “I wasn’t sure the treatment was going to work…”

Gently placing a kiss on her cheek, “Well I’m here now. And I refuse to go anywhere.”

That was just what Kyoka needed to hear.
