Spanner insisted that Minato should have something more proper for his lunch for work. It didn't have to be the fanciest thing in the world, just something that was an actual meal. Those coffee jelly drinks he frequently reached for did not count. That wasn't enough to sustain him, and they both knew it.

Minato had to admit Spanner was absolutely right. He couldn't remember the last time he took something to work that was an actual lunch. He'd really been neglecting to improve certain aspects of his quality of life, and this was one of them.

That was when the next day Spanner wordlessly placed a bento box in his hands before they both left for the Academy. It saved Minato the trouble of planning what to get at the convenience store... which was probably what Spanner was going for.

At lunchtime Minato opened the box to see a delicious meal prepared for him inside. Fried chicken with plenty of vegetables, plus those cute little hard boiled eggs Spanner would decorate to look like birds. The fried chicken also came with a sauce. Which was purple, of course.

It didn't take long for him to dig in, and it was as tasty as it looked. Even more so.

The chicken was juicy, and each of the varieties of vegetables were perfectly fresh. And the eggs were cooked to perfection, having a jammy interior. He hadn't felt so satisfied by a meal in what felt like ages.

Minato's heart was as full as his stomach had become. Knowing how Spanner took the time to put this together, just for him. The thought made a soft warmth spread around within him, and filled him with happiness.

He definitely needed to thank Spanner for this once he got back to the classroom.
