It was the end of their shifts. And it was yet another day full of hustle and bustle in Atori. Shinji made another one of his unintelligible noises as he stretched, hanging his apron back up.

“Man, it feels good to have a break!” He noticed Tezuka looking out the window. “What is it Tezuka?”

Still looking outside the window, “Aeromancy, by looking at the clouds, wind currents or other weather conditions I can predict the future—”

Ren scoffed, interrupting him. “So it’s another one of your fortune telling methods? Don’t make me laugh.”

Ren! At least let him finish his sentence!” Shinji didn’t entirely believe Tezuka’s fortunes either, he couldn’t for his own sake. To be able to continue on… But it was still rude!

“You’re telling me you believe in his crap?”

Shinji shuffled a little bit, “Well you’re just being rude!”

Tezuka walked on over to the other two, looking straight at Ren. “It seems as if your troubles still plague you. What is it that—”

Ren gripped Tezuka by the collar of his jacket, looking right back at him, and dead in the eyes. “I predict if you don’t keep your mouth shut, something bad might happen.”

“Looks like I’ve struck a nerve again.” Giving Ren this knowing look, seeing straight through him. Piercing the armor that he carefully kept on at all times.

And Ren visibly didn’t like this look, not one bit.

Shinji was about to intervene. If Ren broke something from getting physical again, they wouldn’t hear the end of it from Auntie. But Tezuka spoke again.

“You will need to face whatever it is that troubles you head-on at some point. It is inevitable, a facade can only go so far.” Looking back towards the window, “That is what the clouds tell me.”

The worst part of all this? He was right. Ren damn well knew it deep down, and Tezuka knew it too. Every time he was able to see right through him without fail, Ren couldn’t even fathom how. But he did know he didn’t like it, that’s for sure.

Now was not the time to be unpacking and going through these thoughts rushing through his head. Tezuka glanced back towards Ren as he let him go. Soon storming back upstairs.

But Tezuka knew what he had to do. His fate, and his role within this fight was intertwined with these two. In his heart, he knew this. Even with Ren rushing towards his own demise, with how things were going.

The future can be changed. And he would do everything within his power to do just that. Tezuka looked towards Shinji, another knowing look in his eyes.

It took Shinji a good minute to process it. His face contorting as he was in thought, before jolting back up and nodding. Shinji had a slight idea of what he was thinking.

Even if he didn’t entirely believe in fortunes, Shinji did believe in what Tezuka was setting out to do.
